IN CONVERSATION WITH ZINEB KOUTTEN
On freedom, adventure, and finding creativity in everyday life
For some creatives, inspiration comes from stillness. For others, it comes from movement.
For Zineb Koutten, creativity is deeply connected to experience, risk, and exploration. Whether skating through the streets of Casablanca, traveling to new places, or jumping from a plane, her work is shaped by moments that push boundaries and challenge comfort zones.
Her journey reflects a lifestyle where adventure and creativity coexist, each feeding the other.
Living fully to create fully
For Zineb, physical activity is not simply a hobby. It is a way of staying connected to her potential and to her sense of purpose.
“Skydiving, skating, traveling, or doing anything that involves risk is very important in my life, because that’s when I truly feel alive.”
These moments of adrenaline allow her to reconnect with herself and to rediscover what she is capable of. Without challenge, she feels something is missing.
“If I don’t do physical activities, I feel like I’m not challenging myself or working toward my full potential. It gives me the opportunity to discover what I can do.”
This constant search for growth helps her maintain a balance between her adventurous side and her creative expression.
Creativity born from movement
Movement plays a central role in her creative process. Experiences gathered in the outside world often translate directly into ideas and visual concepts.
“When I skate in the streets of Casablanca, jump from a plane, or travel, it makes me want to create, capture feelings, and tell stories.”
For Zineb, creativity is not something separate from life. It is a response to it.
Her adventures sharpen her perspective and shape the way she observes the world.
“These adventures make me see the world differently and push me to look at life from new perspectives.”
Inspiration in everyday moments
While her lifestyle involves movement and exploration, many of her ideas begin in ordinary situations.
Observation, curiosity, and attention to detail are essential parts of her process.
“What inspires me the most is what I see in my daily life. People and small moments can become the starting point of a creative idea.”
One moment in particular illustrates how spontaneous inspiration can transform into a creative project.
“One day, I saw a woman wearing traditional clothes in a taxi, and that moment inspired me to create a dress and organize a photoshoot around it.”
This approach highlights how creativity often begins with noticing what others might overlook.
Redefining freedom
At the center of Zineb’s philosophy is a strong sense of independence.
Freedom, for her, is not the absence of limits. It is the ability to define them for yourself.
“Freedom is doing what you want based on your own limits, not on the limits that others try to impose on you.”
This mindset allows her to move between disciplines, experiences, and creative directions without feeling confined by expectations.
Advice to creatives
For those trying to find their voice, her message is simple but powerful.
Experimentation is essential.
Creativity grows when people allow themselves to explore different paths without fear of judgment or failure.
“Try many things, don’t label yourself, and don’t put barriers on your creativity. If you want to change direction or explore something new, just go ahead and do it.”
Zineb Koutten’s story is a reminder that creativity is not only about producing work. It is about living fully, staying curious, and remaining open to new experiences.
Adventure, observation, and freedom become tools for creation.
And sometimes, the most powerful ideas begin with a simple moment, a journey, a risk, or a new perspective.
