We asked Hamza Rochdi about 3 Things To Know when creating visuals for artists in the music industry.
Build a visual identity, not just beautiful images
A successful music campaign isn't about creating one striking photo, it's about building a recognisable visual universe. Every decision, from styling and lighting to colour palettes, locations, and composition, should reinforce the artist's story, personality, and the emotions behind their music. The goal is for people to instantly connect those visuals with the artist, even before hearing a song.
Listen before you create
The creative process starts long before picking up the camera. Spend time listening to the music, understanding the artist's vision, and discussing their influences, emotions, and ambitions. Ask questions, exchange references, and immerse yourself in their world. The strongest visuals don't follow what's trending, they translate sound, emotion, and identity into imagery that feels authentic.
Create with longevity in mind
Don't think only about a single album cover or a set of press photos. Think about the entire campaign. Great visuals should work across streaming platforms, social media, editorial features, concert screens, merchandise, and future releases while maintaining a cohesive identity. Consistency over time is what transforms visuals into a memorable brand rather than a one-off photoshoot.
