We asked Hussam Oubaidah about 3 Things To Know when transitioning into professional modeling.
Consistently update and improve your portfolio
Your portfolio is your main tool, so it’s essential to always aim for stronger images. Work with different photographers, experiment with concepts, and keep replacing older photos with better ones.
At the same time, don’t be afraid to promote yourself professionally. Reach out to agents, photographers, and creatives, follow up when needed, but always stay respectful, and keep putting your work in front of the right people.
Learn to manage your behavior and emotions on set
Modeling is a team environment, and the impression you make lasts much longer than the shoot itself. Being respectful, patient, and easy to work with makes a huge difference.
Understanding the mood board quickly, adapting, and maintaining a positive attitude with the client, stylists, makeup artists, and the entire crew can open doors to future opportunities.
Be smart about money
Modeling can bring great financial opportunities, but the income is rarely consistent. There may be months with several jobs and others with none.
Because of this, it’s important to manage your finances carefully, saving during busy periods, avoiding unnecessary spending, and planning for quieter times.
Thinking long term helps create stability in a career that can otherwise be unpredictable.
