ZOOM IN WITH SODFA
Building sound together, shaping a collective identity

In recent years, Morocco’s electronic music scene has been evolving rapidly, driven by a new generation of artists who are experimenting, collaborating, and redefining what local sound can look like on a global stage.
Among these emerging voices is Sodfa, a Moroccan electronic music collective formed by three artists, Candle, QABOO, and KIKI. Their project was not the result of a strategic plan, but rather a natural convergence of shared influences and creative chemistry.
The name itself tells the story. In Arabic, “sodfa” means coincidence, a word that reflects how their paths crossed through music and how spontaneous collaborations gradually turned into a structured artistic journey.
From coincidence to collective
Each member of Sodfa comes from a slightly different musical background, bringing unique references and perspectives into the group. What united them was a shared desire to create music that feels emotionally driven while remaining connected to their cultural environment.
Their work blends electronic production with storytelling, subtle references to Moroccan identity, and a strong sense of atmosphere. Over time, what began as informal collaborations evolved into a collective with a clear artistic direction and a recognizable sound.
A fluid but intentional creative process
Working as a trio requires flexibility, trust, and communication. For Sodfa, creativity does not follow a rigid structure.
Usually, one member introduces an initial idea, whether it is a rhythm, a vocal, or a concept, and the others build on it collectively. Sometimes they work side by side in the studio, shaping the track together in real time. Other times, they collaborate remotely, passing projects back and forth until the final version begins to take shape.
Each member naturally contributes different strengths, from sound design to arrangement to musical direction. But one principle remains constant.
Every track passes through all three of them before it is finalized.
This shared process ensures that every piece of music carries the full identity of the collective
Balancing individuality and unity
One of the challenges of working within a collective is maintaining a balance between group identity and personal creative growth. For Sodfa, the two are not in conflict.
They see the collective as a shared space rather than a limitation. Each member continues to develop individual projects, whether through DJing, production, or creative direction. Instead of competing with the collective, these experiences strengthen it.
Their individual journeys feed the group, allowing new influences, techniques, and perspectives to flow into their music.
In this sense, Sodfa becomes a meeting point, a place where different creative paths converge into a single, cohesive vision.
Turning differences into strength
Creative disagreements are inevitable in collaborative work, but for Sodfa, they are not obstacles. They are opportunities.
Rather than debating ideas endlessly, the group prefers to experiment. When opinions differ, they test multiple directions and allow the music itself to guide the decision.
This approach removes ego from the process and shifts the focus toward the final result.
Over time, trust becomes the foundation of their collaboration, making it easier to navigate differences and maintain creative momentum.
A scene in transformation
Sodfa is part of a broader shift happening within Morocco’s electronic music landscape. The scene is becoming more confident, more diverse, and more self-defined.
A new generation of artists is emerging, not simply replicating international trends, but shaping a distinct local identity.
Collectives, independent initiatives, and cultural events have played a crucial role in building this ecosystem. Festivals such as Oasis Festival helped open doors to global audiences and inspired many young creatives to explore electronic music as a serious artistic path.
Today, the momentum continues to grow.
While structural support and industry infrastructure still need development, the creative energy is undeniable.
Learning to create together
For Sodfa, being part of a collective offers lessons that go beyond music production.
It teaches patience.
It teaches listening.
It teaches humility.
Working as a group means accepting that the best idea may come from someone else, and understanding that collaboration can lead to outcomes that would never be achieved alone.
More importantly, it transforms the creative process into a shared journey.
A journey built on trust, experimentation, and connection.

A shared experience
At its core, Sodfa’s story is about collaboration.
It is about how creativity grows when people work together, exchange ideas, and build something larger than themselves.
Their music reflects this philosophy, not just in sound, but in spirit.
A collective is not simply a group of individuals.
It is a shared vision in motion.
